Did Washington team president Jason Wright accidentally reveal new name?

February 2 cannot get here soon enough. That’s when fans will officially learn the new name and logo of the Washington Football Team. Until then speculation will grow about rumors and possible hints towards the name.

With that said, Washington team president Jason Wright may have accidentally tipped the new name.

A screenshot of one of Washington’s promotional videos shows a “Washington Commanders” concept sitting on the lap of Wright.

There have been other signs suggesting the new name will be the Washington Commanders, as WUSA-9’s Darren M. Haynes pointed out.

Commanders were confirmed as one of the finalists by Washington co-CEO Tanya Snyder. And most signs point to Commanders being a favorite.

Maybe Wright just happened to have the Commanders sheet on his lap at the time? Remember washingtonadmirals.com at one point redirected to the Washington Football Team’s official website. But, so did washingtonpigtails.com.

It’s anyone guess, but even without Wright’s potential slip-up, signs point to Washington Commanders being the franchise’s new name.

Then again, could Wright have cleverly thrown a diversion? He’s only ruled out RedWolves, Wolves and Warriors (and possibly Red Tails). Notably, this is the same organization that botched the jersey retirement of Sean Taylor.

February 2 seems a long way away. Until then let the speculation ensue.
