Spencer Dinwiddie has played just 40 games in his first season with the Washington Wizards, yet he reportedly has already worn out his welcome with teammates. Thus, the Wizards want to trade Dinwiddie, according to the Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor.
“The Wizards want to move Dinwiddie because he looks like a shell of his former self and his teammates don’t want him there.”
Dinwiddie signed a three-year, $54 million contract with the Wizards this past offseason. He was supposed to be part of the Wizards’ retooling to play alongside Bradley Beal and with other summer additions, Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Montrezl Harrell.
However, Dinwiddie has struggled after a hot start to the season. He is coming off a torn ACL he suffered during the 2020-21 season while playing with the Brooklyn Nets.
His inability to play up to standards has seemingly been attributed to the ACL injury. Yet, he has displayed signs of being disgruntled for whatever reasons with the Wizards.
Following Saturday’s loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, Dinwiddie admitted he tried to be more vocal at the start of the season, but it wasn’t welcomed by Wizards teammates.
Washington is currently 23-26 and 11th in the East. Dinwiddie is averaging 13.2 points and 5.7 assists per game. But it’s evident he doesn’t fit on the court with Beal. Now the latest report suggests teammates want him out of their locker room.
