Commanders made ‘competitive’ trade offer for Seahawks QB Russell Wilson

The Washington Commanders have made it widely known they’re searching for a quarterback this offseason. The Commanders are in prime position to trade for a quarterback, sign one in free agency or draft their long-term answer.

Commanders head coach Ron Rivera prefers a veteran quarterback. And it appears the team have already made a heavy push for an established signal caller via a trade offer.

According to The Athletic’s Ben Standig, the Commanders made a trade offer to the Seattle Seahawks for Russell Wilson. The Seahawks declined the offer. The search continues.

The offer was described as “competitive” by Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post.

Wednesday, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said the team has “no intention” to trade Wilson. He acknowledged Seahawks general manager John Schneider has fielded calls from other teams about Wilson. However, he has declined those offers.

Washington plan to be aggressive in their search. Earlier this week, John Keim reported the Commanders have essentially called every NFL team about the availability and cost of a quarterback.

Wilson is a name that appears Washington can cross off their search list.
