Taylor Heinicke celebrates $125k win bonus with a new pair of Jordans

Sunday’s win over the Green Bay Packers netted Washington Commanders quarterback Taylor Heinicke a nice $125,000 bonus. He celebrated the victory and the bonus by adding a new pair of Jordans to his collection.

Heinicke made his season debut in Week 7, starting for the injured Carson Wentz. After a rocky start that included throwing a pick-six in the second quarter, Heinicke regrouped and helped the Commanders rally to a 23-21 win over his childhood idol Aaron Rodgers and his favorite team, the Packers.

Heinicke grew up cheering for the Packers alongside his late father. The win was refreshing for Heinicke for personal reasons. However, he has some financial reasons to be happy.

As part of his two-year, $4.75 million contract he signed last year, Heinicke earns a $125,000 bonus for every Commanders’ victory in which he plays at least 60% of their offensive snaps.

Last season his six wins as a fill-in starter earned him an additional $750,000. As a result, Heinicke started a tradition of buying a pair of Jordans in a color scheme related to the team Washington beats, according to ESPN’s John Keim.

On Monday, Heinicke posted the green and yellow kicks he copped after beating the Packers on Instagram.

Heinicke completed 20-of-33 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns against his pick-six. He sparked newfound energy in the Commanders with his inspiring play.

Heinicke will start at least the next three games while Wentz is on injured reserve following finger surgery. The Commanders travel to Indianapolis to face one of Wentz’s former teams, the Colts. If all goes well, Heinicke may have to pick up a new pair of white and blue Jordans next week.
