Just as the Washington Wizards are gaining momentum with its third win in four games, the injury bug may have taken out Washington’s steam. The Wizards stunned the Philadelphia 76ers 116-111 with its full rotation intact. However, its leader and star, Bradley Beal, exited the game in the fourth quarter with a hamstring injury.
With just over four minutes remaining in the game, Beal chased down his own rebound. In the process, the three-time All-Star collided with 76ers center Joel Embiid. Beal immediately grabbed his left hamstring, threw his headband, and headed back to the locker room.
Following the win, Wizards head coach Wes Unseld Jr. did not provide a full update. But Unseld told reporters Beal injured his left hamstring. Beal will get evaluated to understand the extent of his hamstring injury.
Beal missed six games earlier this month with a strained right hamstring. Tuesday was Beal’s fifth game back. He finished the night with 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting, five assists, and one rebound.
The Wizards (14-21) have been shorthanded throughout the season due to a list of injuries. Washington lost ten straight games, including all six that Beal missed. However, the win over the 76ers is Washington’s third in four games.
The Wizards got back Beal, Rui Hachimura, and Delon Wright the past two weeks from their injuries. And Deni Avdija returned against the 76ers. Just as it seemed the Wizards were getting back on track, their train may have been halted depending on the severity of Beal’s hamstring.
