The International Ice Hockey Federation announced Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov has been suspended four years for testing positive for cocaine at the 2019 Ice Hockey World Championship.

A video surfaced in May, showed Kuznetsov sitting at a table that had two lines of white powder on it.

He denied he used any drug, and challenged the time frame of the video.

“I never used drugs and have no intention to get into it. If there are any questions, I am ready to undergo testing,” Kuznetsov said shortly after the video surfaced. “The video is a year old. It happened in summer of 2018, when we won the Cup in Vegas. It has nothing to do with the World Championship at all.”

The NHL and the Capitals investigated the happenings of the video and Kuznetsov was later cleared by both the league and team.

According to the IIHF announcement, the cocaine was found in a May 26 testing.
