The Redskins have officially moved on from Jay Gruden, firing the head coach following a 0-5 start to the season. Bill Callahan has been named the team’s interim coach. But, owner Dan Snyder has a wish list outside of the Redskins organization.

According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, Snyder’s list includes Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.

Bowls and Bieniemy have the easier paths for the Redskins to pursue as they are coordinators. Tomlin is the most interesting name. Currently he still belongs to the Steelers, but after their 1-4 start that has seen both quarterbacks Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) and Mason Rudolph (concussion) injured, his days may be numbered in the Steel City.

Again this is a wish list and predicated on availability for interviews and desire of the potential candidates. Word has long been the Redskins have a difficult time getting preferred candidates due to the team’s longevity of woes.

While Gruden’s dismissal was met with enthusiasm there is still doubt and concerns of the Redskins’ direction with Snyder as owner and Bruce Allen as team president.

Still, Tomlin, Bowls, and Bieniemy being on anyone’s wish list should get a team’s fan base excited.
