The Washington Football Team is moving on from its former name and logo. The team’s official Twitter account shared video of workers striping down the team’s name and logo from FedEx Field and their headquarters facilities.
Washington announced on July 13 intentions of retiring their old name and logo, as they faced pressure from sponsors to change the name due to its racial connection. On July 23, the team announced they’ll be referred as the “Washington Football Team” for the 2020 season as officials continue to mull over naming options.
The team also introduced a new temporary logo, word script, new helmet design and updated uniform mock-up. Wednesday they shared video and images of close-ups of the new helmets featuring numbers in place of a logo as decals.
In Thursday’s video, the mural of #HTTR in reference to their old mantra, was also taken down. The expectation is the murals and other references will be replaced with a new that are in line with the name Washington Football Team.
