The Washington Football Team promoted wide receiver Cam Sims and linebacker Jared Norris from the practice squad. Both players will be active for Sunday’s game at the Arizona Cardinals.
NFL teams are allowed to elevated up to two players from the practice squad for each game without a corresponding move or terminating the player’s practice squad contract. However, each player is limited to two such call ups per year. Selected players revert back to the practice squad after the game.
Sims was promoted for Week 1’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles. He played 16 snaps on special teams. Washington will have to sign him to the active 53-man roster with a corresponding move the next time he is elevated.
As for Norris, two linebackers appeared on Washington’s injury list for Sunday’s game. Cole Holcomb has been ruled out against the Cardinals with a knee injury. Thomas Davis is listed as questionable with a calf injury after missing Week 1’s game.
Holcomb played 21 special teams snaps against Philadelphia. Thus, Norris is more likely to slot in to take those snaps. He also provides insurance as Washington has only four healthy linebackers this week.
