Ron Rivera continues to coach despite struggling through first half

Ron Rivera continues to face challenges of trying to coach the Washington Football Team and battle through skin cancer. After a difficult week with chemotherapy treatment, Rivera’s struggles were evident during Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The head coach was seen sitting on the bench at times throughout the first half.

He also was seen leaning on a Washington staffer as he walked to the locker room at half.

Despite the struggles in the first half, Rivera returned to the sidelines to start the second half. Rivera said he would receive an IV treatment before, during or after the game, as he did in Week 1. Instead, he is “fighting through” the game without an IV, according to a CBS Sports report.

Rivera received an emotional boost before the game, as Washington surprised him with their “Coach’s Corner” full of cutouts from family, friends, and former players showing their support in his battle with skin cancer.

Washington trailed the Ravens 21-10 going into the half.
