Wizards signing Raul Neto to one-year deal

The Washington Wizards continue to add point guard depth, as they have agreed to a one-year deal with Raul Neto, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Neto, 28, played last season with the Philadelphia 76ers. He averaged 12.4 minutes, 5.1 points and 1.8 points in 54 games. He shot 45.5% from the field, including 38.6% from three.

Neto previously spent four seasons with the Utah Jazz, where he averaged 4.8 points throughout his time there.

Neto has played professionally since the age of 16, playing in his native Brazil. He also played professionally in Spain’s Liga ACB from 2011-2015 with clubs Gipuzkoa and UCAM Murcia before entering the NBA.

Adding Neto is peculiar for the Wizards following the reported trade request of John Wall. The Wizards needed point guard depth to insure against Wall’s minutes limitations and restrictions on back-to-backs. But now, the Wizards may be forced to reshuffle their point guard depth chart with Wall wanting out of Washington.
