Bradley Beal briefly in concussion protocol after running into shoulder of Russell Westbrook

Bradley Beal was a victim of friendly fire Tuesday night, when his face collided with the shoulder of Washington Wizards teammate Russell Westbrook. The collision occurred in the third quarter against the Chicago Bulls.

Beal briefly exited the game and was placed in the concussion protocol. Fortunately, all checked out and he returned to the game.

It’s a good thing because the Wizards will need him. Washington trailed the Bulls 52-46 at halftime and the deficit grew as large as 13 points in the third quarter.

Both teams are seeking their first win of the season. While the growing pains of the season were expected for the Bulls in Billy Donovan’s first year as coach, the Wizards’ expectations expanded when the team acquired Westbrook in a trade with Houston for John Wall.
