Bruce Campbell mistaken for man beaten in viral Walmart fight

Former Maryland Terrapins star offensive lineman Bruce Campbell is trending on Twitter for all the wrong reason. A video of two men fighting inside of a Walmart went viral. After trading barbs a tall built man is dropped several times after being punched out by the other man.

Twitter mistakenly identified the tall man on the losing end as Campbell. That may have been thanks to a Raiders fan troll account.

“BREAKING: ex #Raiders offensive tackle Bruce Campbell involved in altercation,” the caption read of Raider Albert. “Was taken to hospital with a broken jaw. Wow RaiderNation.”

Meanwhile, Total Pro Sports ran with the story identifying the man as “former Raiders OL Bruce Campbell,” not realizing the trolling attempt by Albert.

Nonetheless, Wes Brown of Testudos Times and Ted Nguyen of the Athletic have confirmed that the man in the video is not Campbell.

Nguyen also referenced Campbell having tattoos on both his arms, the man in the video does not.

Still, it unfortunate that Campbell is subject to seeing his name trending on Twitter for something that is not even him.

Campbell was fourth-round draft pick of the then-Oakland Raiders in 2010. He played in 19 games with the Raiders and Carolina Panthers from 2010-2012. He signed a one-year deal with the Washington Football Team in 2014, but the deal was voided after he failed a team physical.

Campbell spent some training camp time with the New York Jets before playing in the CFL with Toronto and Saskatchewan. He last played in 2017.
