Alex Len agrees to two-year deal with Kings

Alex Len’s stay with the Washington Wizards will end after one season. The free agent center agreed to a two-year deal with the Sacramento Kings, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The deal is worth $7.65 million, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.

Len signing a deal so early at the start of training camp is a bit surprising. The Wizards had interest in bringing him back, according to Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington. That was before the team acquired Montrezl Harrell from the Los Angeles Lakers in the Russell Westbrook trade. However, there appeared to be some level of interest remaining.

Washington doesn’t expect Thomas Bryant to be ready at the start of next season coming off a torn ACL last January. Also, the team needed center depth behind Daniel Gafford. Instead, they’ll have to turn to elsewhere for a low value center to add to the mix.

Meanwhile, this will be Len’s second stint with the Kings. He was traded to Sacramento during the 2019-20 season from the Atlanta Hawks and played in 15 games.

Last season, Alex Len played in 57 games, starting 40, with the Wizards. He averaged 7.1 points on 61.9% shooting from the field, 4.4 rebounds and 15.8 minutes.
