Logan Thomas done for season with undetermined knee injury

The Washington Football Team placed tight end Logan Thomas on injured reserve with a knee injury, the team announced Wednesday.

Because this is his second trip to IR, Thomas’ season will officially be over. Thomas had his first trip on injured reserve after a Week 4 hamstring injury. He returned in Week 12 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Unfortunately, against the Las Vegas Raiders Sunday, Thomas was injured on a low hit by Raiders defensive end Yannick Ngakoue. Washington head coach Ron Rivera called the hit “avoidable.”

An MRI revealed Thomas avoided tearing his ACL. However, the knee injury is significant enough to shut him down for the season. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, team doctors are still trying to determine the extent of the injury.

Thomas signed with Washington in 2020. It was his first chance as a primary tight end after switching his position from quarterback. Thomas shined in 2020 with a career-high 72 catches. 670 yards and six touchdowns.

He signed a three-year, $24 million extension this offseason. This season looked as promising as the last. Unfortunately two injuries, one by a horrible play, ends with him having 18 catches, 196 yards and three receiving touchdowns.
