WFT goes into enhanced COVID-19 protocols following multiple positive tests

The Washington Football Team is in enhanced COVID-19 protocols, according to the Washington Post’s Nicki Jhabvala. This is after the team added four players, including defensive tackle Jonathan Allen, to the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Washington is now up to nine players on the COVID-19 list.

Enhanced COVID protocols means all players and staff are required to be tested daily and wear masks indoors at the team’s facility regardless of vaccination status.

Washington will conduct it’s team meetings virtually. The team also announced all media availability will be virtually for the week.

Last season, Washington had only two players have positive coronavirus tests. Each player wasn’t on the active roster at the time of their positive tests. This season, Washington went the first 13 weeks without an issue.

However, defensive end Montez Sweat was the first to test positive last week. Sweat is currently on injured reserve with a fractured jaw. But, he was set to return to practice last week before prior to his positive test.

From there the list grew to five by Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. That included Sweat’s fellow defensive end mates James Smith-Williams and Casey Toohill. Now, the team has nine players including five defensive linemen in total.
