Washington Football Team defensive backs coach Chris Harris will interview for the Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator opening this weekend, according to Joel A. Erickson of the Indy Star.
The previous Colts defensive coordinator, Matt Eberflus was hired Thursday as the Chicago Bears head coach. Now, Colts head coach Frank Reich is searching for a play caller for his defense.
The Colts will also interview Jaguars defensive coordinator Joe Cullen as well.
Harris has been on head coach Ron Rivera’s staff in Washington for two seasons. The development of safety Kam Curl has highlighted Harris’ coaching.
Before Washington, Harris served as assistant defensive backs coach for the Chargers for four seasons. He also spent two seasons with the Chicago Bears as a defensive quality control coach.
Harris interviewed last year for defensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Before joining the coaching ranks, Harris played eight seasons in the NFL as a safety. He played 44 games for the Bears and Carolina Panthers each. He also played with the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars.
