Look: Video leak from Washington Football Team store appears to reveal new name

The Washington Football Team is less than 24 hours away from revealing its new team name. As the anticipation grows, it appears there’s another huge leak pointing to “Washington Commanders” being the new team name.

NBC Washington’s Chopper4 captured a view of signage revealing the Commanders name from the team’s store inside their home stadium of FedEx Field.

As you can see the lights inside the store were turned off during the video shot.

According to Chad Ryan, the team was setting up the new merchandise ahead of Wednesday’s reveal.

By the way, some Washington Commanders merchandise has also hit the internet.

As the team’s name search wound down, speculation increased toward the new name being Commanders. The numerous leaks and hints didn’t help the buzz to dissipate.

There’s the unblurred video copy of Washington team president Jason Wright with papers showing images of the Commanders logo and shield. How about commanders.com being transferred last week to an internet hosting company associated with the NFL?

Some perceive that former Washington quarterback Joe Theismann spilled the beans on the name being Commanders.

Could the Washington organization, owned by Dan Snyder, be this bad at keeping the name under wraps? Then again the process of the name change took 19 months. It’s hard to keep a secret for 19 months, right?

Washington will officially reveal the new name, logo and uniforms early Wednesday morning during a huge announcement on NBC’s Today show. It’s pretty ironic that an NBC affiliate would spoil the name ahead of the announcement.

There’s still suspense that Washington has cleverly drops diversions. Wright previously said they would. Even if they botched the name reveal, there’s anticipation towards the new logo and uniforms. We’ll have to wait and see.
