Dan Snyder statement claims he suggested NFL take over investigation into Washington

A statement from Washington Football Team owner Dan Snyder and his wife Tanya claims Snyder suggested to Roger Goodell the NFL take over the third-party investigation of the Washington Football Team’s culture.

“In conversations with Commissioner Goodell, Tanya and I suggested that the NFL assume full oversight of the investigation so that results are thorough, complete and trusted by the fans, the players, our employees and the public.”

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday evening Snyder was informed by Goodell the league was taking over the investigation. However, Snyder states it was his suggestion to get the league involved.

Washington hired powerhouse attorney Beth Wilkinson in July to conduct the investigation following allegations from 15 women of workplace misconduct and sexual harassment within the organization reported by the Washington Post. A second report from the Post in August surfaced of additional allegations that implicated Snyder.

Snyder has denied the allegations and questioned the credibility of the sources for the Washington Post in their report.

The NFL’s involvement will hopefully provide transparency in the investigation of these serious allegations against Snyder and the team’s culture.
