Ron Rivera admitted to feeling tired during Washington’s Win

Ron Rivera won his debut as the head coach of the Washington Football Team Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Through the excitement of his first win and the unveiling of his dominant defensive line, it’s hard to overlook the challenging reality Rivera is facing with cancer.

Last week, Rivera missed practice while undergoing treatment. Sunday, he received an IV treatment at halftime.

Talking to reporters Monday, Rivera admitted he was tired and the process of the game took “a lot out of me.”

Still, Rivera felt uplifted by seeing the smiles on his players’ faces after battling back to win.

Washington fell behind as much as 17 points and trailed 17-7 at halftime to the Eagles. While their head coach was getting an IV, quarterback Dwayne Haskins riled up the team with a halftime speech. Washington scored 20 of their 27 unanswered points to win the game.

Despite being fatigued from the vigor of coaching an NFL game, Rivera still managed to deliver a fiery postgame speech to his team.
