Washington to play 49ers in Arizona during Week 14

The Week 14 game between the Washington Football Team and the San Francisco 49ers will be played in Glendale, Arizona at State Farm Stadium, the home of the Arizona Cardinals. Additionally, the 49ers’ Week 13 game against the Buffalo Bills has also been relocated to Arizona.

“The San Francisco 49ers have come to an agreement with the National Football League and Arizona Cardinals which allows the 49ers to host their Weeks 13 and 14 home games against the Buffalo Bills and Washington Football Team at State Farm Stadium in Arizona,” the team said in a statement on Monday. “The Cardinals organization, State Farm Stadium and League officials have been supportive and accommodating as we work through the many logistical issues involved in relocating NFL games.”

Both games were originally scheduled to be played at the 49ers’ home field, Levi’s Stadium, in Santa Clara, California. However, Santa Clara County officials have banned high school, college and professional contact sports through Dec. 21 in response to the recent surge of COVID-19 within the state of California. Officials also mandate a 14-day quarantine period for people entering the county.

The ban has forced the 49ers to relocate. Both their home stadium and practice facility is located in Santa Clara County.

The trip to Arizona will be Washington’s second of the season. They lost to the Cardinals 30-15 in Week 2.

The relocation will have the 49ers play three of their next four games in Arizona. After their two “home” games, the 49ers will play at Dallas in Week 15. Then return to State Farm Stadium to play at the Cardinals in Week 16. Their Week 17 season finale at home against the Seattle Seahawks is still slated to be played in Santa Clara.
