Amid the current United States government shutdown that has affected thousands of federal government workers which started Dec. 22, the University of Maryland is rolling out a nice gesture.

The school is offering two complimentary tickets for federal government employees for their next men and women’s home basketball games.

Federal government employees can receive their tickets by showing their federal government agency’s I.D. at Gate A for the Jan. 12 women’s game against Michigan which tips off at 4:30 pm at the XFINITY Center. The same offer will apply for the Jan. 14 men’s home against against Wisconsin. That game tips at 8:30 pm.

Both Maryland basketball programs are riding high right now. The women just enjoyed an 81-63 win at Nebraska to give head coach Brenda Frese her 500th career win. The men won their fourth straight game on Jan. 8, 82-67 at Minnesota.
